About Hairlogs
The name here is literal. I keep logs, actual running notes on what a haircut looks like once the salon shine wears off, how a lipstick behaves by hour eight, and which manicure survives a week of dishes. My name is Margot Ellis, and to be clear, I am not a licensed stylist or a makeup artist. I am the person who reads the ingredient list, watches the twelfth tutorial, and then writes down what the first eleven quietly left out.
So the writing here sorts into three logbooks that keep overlapping. For hair, I track cuts, color, and the upkeep nobody warns you about before you commit. For makeup, I care less about the trend of the moment and more about wear, texture, and whether a formula actually suits the face it lands on. For nails, it comes down to shape, finish, and the honest cost in time and money.
Why the log stays open
Nothing here is ever really finished. A look that photographs beautifully can age badly within a week, so I go back and rewrite the notes when reality disagrees with my first impression.
